Very touching concept for this video, as Musiq Soulchild has been named Ambassador for the Susan G. Komen's "Circle of Promise", a movement designed to further engage Black women around the globe in the fight against Breast Cancer. Musiq will help raiseawareness about the importance of early detection. His new video for the song, "Yes" drives this point home.
SOOOO many inquiries about this song and talented artist!!!! Here's the official video. LOVE HIM!! If you look closely, you'll see a cameo from India.Arie!
Raphael's artistry continues to transcend. Great song. Great video. For all you "ANTM" fans, check out YaYa DaCosta in the starring role! She also had a part in this year's Oscar-nominated film, "The Kids Are Alright". Go YaYa!
Check out a Chris Brown rehearsal with his crew through a fisheye lens gettin' it INNNNNNNNNN to Funk Legend Rick James' "Cold Blooded". When all the drama falls away...there's NO mistaking this guy's GOD-given TALENT!!!
SO....before I fell asleep waiting for Kanye's big performance on the VMA's, I'd been channel-surfing and came across VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time", which had probably been the eighth or ninth time it had aired. I happened to catch it in the last hour when they were at artist #7...Prince. Of course I was kicking myself that I'd missed such an interesting show, because I was sure there were some artists in the countdown that I was sure to debate (lol)! As they got to #6...Jimi Hendrix, I'm thinking, "Ok, this is pretty good, Michael Jackson BETTER be #1!!". The usual suspects were in the top 5..The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan...then, Michael Jackson comes in at number 2....NUMBER 2?! WHAT?!?! At this point, I'm thinking, who could be better than Michael Jackson? Then they go to commercial...a break that seemingly takes FOREVER!!! Then FINALLY they get to it...the GREATEST artist(s) of all time...THE BEATLES! I breathe a sigh of relief....they'd be the only artist(s) that would keep me from jumping up and throwing my tv out of the window in disgust for such a bogus countdown.
Alicia Keys has released her entire album (The Element of Freedom) to her Facebook fans...all 1,411,897 of them...before it hits stores on December 15th. Quite an innovative move! I just had a chance to listen to the entire album. She's done it again.Beautiful ballads about what else? Love! Some of the standout tracks..."Love is Blind", "Unthinkable", "That's How Strong My Love Is" (My fav!), and "How it Feels to Fly". A very solid project from Ms. Keys.
We all know that music is the universal language. With that said, all of us have our favorite song, or in a lot of our cases...songs. We have a song for each one of our moods. I have a song that 'picks me up', if you will. This is such a great song on so many levels. It's Troop's "Spread My Wings". The lyrics are so positive, the tempo is nice and upbeat, and when the video came out, we saw that the group could REALLY dance! So when I'm feelin' a little out of sorts, just ONE of the songs I put on is "Spread My Wings", because NOBODY is going to keep me from doing just that. Check it out....
I'm ALWAYS saying how great the Michael Jackson "Bad" Tour was, even though I never had the pleasure of seeing it live (I did see him on the "HIStory" tour....AMAZING!!). The dance moves were spot on, every song was sung LIVE and the energy was electrifying! Here's a clip from the "Bad" tour ("Rock With You")...FLAWLESS!! If you look closely, you'll catch a glimpse of a young Cheryl Crow (on background vocals), who went on to become a big pop star in her own right some years later. R.I.P. MJ!
