AAHGS(Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society) will conductg its 17th Annual Workshop Saturday, February 6th rom 9:30am until 3:30pm. There is NO admission cost for the workshop which will be held in the Greensboro Central Library(Downtown), 219 N. Church Street. The purpose of the workshop is to help individual trace their family history. Guest Speaker will be Diane L. Richard, President of Mosaic Research and Project Management, of Raleigh, North Carolina. Topics will include "An Introduction to Freedmen's Bureau Records" to Researching Your Family Tree. Genealogical materials and displays will be part of the workshop. Speak Out Loud Poetry Jam is an evening of poetry, art, community, education, awareness and so much more. The event set for Saturday, February 20th at 6:30pm raises awareness through the Nastional Psoriasis Foundation's events that help build a better understanding about the disease at the community level while raising funds to support valuable research that one day could lead to a cure. If your closet is or has become to 'full' now is a GREAT time to do some serious cleaning by donating your gently used clothing..men's, women's, children's, household goods, small appliances, books, shoes, jewelry, purses, accessories, toys and other items to the Junior League of Greensboro, and you can assist many wonderful women in need. Items donated to the Bargain Box, 122 N. Elm Street(corner of Elm St. & Friendly Ave.) on behalf of the Women's Resource Center receive dollar credit that the WRC can use to issue voucher to women in need of clothing and shoes for themselves and their families. Donations are accepted Monday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-3pm. The Women's Resource Center is also located at 628 Summit Avenue in Greensboro.
